Recently Samsung announces ChatON – a cross-platform Free Global mobile messaging service coming in September and we’ve been hearing RIM also developing an BBM app to bring it’s popular messaging service on Android platform. The first proof of the BBM for Android just make it appearance on techradar as they published a pair of leaked screenshots shows BBM running on android. BlackBerry Messenger offers read/received message similar to push notifications. The screenshots above came from a RIM employee who suggest the app is in the final stages of testing and the final version of BBM for Android would arrive by 2012. This is good news for Android users and specially for those who switched from BlackBerry to Android.
At this point naysayers could very well argue that these are fakes and judging by the poor quality of the pictures I would tend to agree. However, BBM for Android rumors have been circulating for some time now and with RIM's declining market share this could be exactly the boost they need. Still it is rather surprising that RIM would be willing to share this exclusive service with other platforms considering it is the only reason people are still buying BlackBerries.
